1. What is data analysis?

   Data analysis is the use of mathematics, statistics, and graphs to describe variables and the relationships between them. The key benefit of a data analysis software is that it enables you to make informed decisions by filtering complex and large amounts of data into meaningful, relevant information.

   Many software packages specifically designed for data analysis are now available to those who have struggled when trying to perform their analysis using "homegrown" solutions or spreadsheets.    Perform basic reporting and plotting. Products have limited plotting and analysis tools, but are user-friendly.

   Visualization Software

   Present complex data in a useful, visual format. Products enhance your understanding of the data.

   Statistical Software

   Build statistical models, visually present the data and model, and make predictions.

   Data Analysis and Technical Graphics Software

   Combines features that are available in each of the other software product categories. Provides additional powerful analysis tools (such as nonlinear curve fitting) and graph templates to help you gain a better understanding of the relationships in your data.
