Summary:

Region of Interest tool for 2D graphs. Great for statistical analysis of data point clusters and dealing with outliers.

Description:

REQUIREMENTS
Origin 7.0 SR4 or higher.

INSTALLATION
Run Cluster.opk by double-clicking the file name or dragging it to Origin's program window. Setup creates the 3-button Cluster toolbar.

OPERATION

  • Left button (Select) opens and closes a rectangular or circular selection tool which can be moved and sized to enclose a group of data points. Press Shift to enter dimensions and center position in a dialog. Selection details are shown in a graph label. Press Ctrl for label options.
  • Middle button (Statistics) reports statistics to Results log. Press Ctrl to copy the inner data points and statistics to a new worksheet.
  • Right button (Edit) applies one of these operations to either the inner or outer data points...
Apply mask: Mask the chosen points.
Delete row: Delete corresponding rows from their worksheet.
Clear: Set their Y values to "--".
Set to value: Set Y to value.
Set to...: Set Y to a new value.

Statistics acts on all curves in the active layer while Edit can be applied to all or only the active curve. Masked data points are ignored by both operations.

    CHANGES
  • Circular selection failed when the Y axis scale exceeded the X axis scale. Now it works for all Y/X aspect ratios. (1/7/2006)
  • Origin crashed when Extract or Remove was used on a dataset that was plotted against row numbers rather than an X column. Fixed. (2/19/2006)
  • (1) Extract and Remove can be applied to all curves in the active layer. (2) Remove now has a Mask option. (3) Masked points are ignored. (3/2/2006)
  • (1) Remove is now called Edit and affects either inner or outer points. User can choose new Y value. (2) Extract (now Statistics) reports statistics for all curves to Results log. Extract to wks is optional. (3) Selection details are shown in a graph label and update when selection changes. (3/11/2006)
  • Circular selector is now a circle on all screens. (4/2/2006)
