Summary: |
Specialized tool to read, extract and analyze data stored in spec files, a file format commonly used in X-ray and neutron scattering experiments. |
Description: |
ScanRead: This specialized tool provides a front-end to extract and plot data stored in Spec files. Spec file format is native to a UNIX-based data acquisition program used worldwide for data collection from x-ray and neutron scattering experiments (http://www.certif.com). The ScanRead tool provides a friendly interface for viewing spec files, creating quick plots, and for extracting data in a form that can be easily read by Origin. This distribution also includes a number of Origin script tools for data analysis, organized in the form of an Origin menu selection. ScanRead, and the associated Origin script files were developed by Dr. K. A Ritley in the research group of Prof. Dosch, at the Max-Planck Institute for Metals Research in Stuttgart, Germany (http://dxray.mpi-stuttgart.mpg.de/site/index_en.html)
You can also download the file from http://dxray.mpi-stuttgart.mpg.de/site/soft_en.html#Data handling utilities

- Among the extracted files, you will find SETUP.EXE.
- Run SETUP.EXE. This starts the setup program for ScanRead.
- Among the files extracted from scanread351.exe, you will find two files named readme1.txt and readme2.txt
- Readme1.txt will provide more information on ScanRead.
- Readme2.txt will provide information on how to modify the Fullmenu.CNF file to add menu items for analysis. The script for these analysis items are also included in readme2.txt and they need to be extracted into a .OGS file. Please view readme2.txt for details.
